Aprašymas
In these troubled days, we are all a lot more security conscious than we used to be. We have gates where there used to be fences. Metal detectors in shopping malls. Home security systems where we used to just leave the back door unlocked. But at what point does security move beyond precaution and become an idol that controls our lives? And what of the God-given command - or even design for life - that we live as risk-takers for His Kingdom? How can we live by faith in the face of fear? In this intensive workbook study of RISK, Shannon C. Deal takes on the idol of security and sheds light on a better way. She suggests that God has made us for adventure, and the safest place to be is on the mission to which He is sending us. After all, which is safer to live in-a castle built on sand or a tent securely fastened to the Rock? In this study, participants will work through the risky purposes for which God made them and examine the ways in which they employ self-protective behaviors instead of relying on God. Then they will look at the God whom we are called alone to fear, and who dwells with us-the Sovereign God who has drawn near. Following this, they will consider new behaviors that embrace risk with faith, as God sends and accompanies them into their neighborhoods and their relationships. Finally, they will ponder death, everyone's greatest fear, and its defeat in Jesus. This study may be done as a seven- or eight-week intensive course, with participants completing five chapters each week, or less intensively as a fourteen-week course with chapters spread over two weeks. The seven sections are entitled: -Designed to Dare -Five Habits of Self-Protective People -The Only Thing We Have to Fear -Exchanging Castles for Tents -Traveling Light -Willing to be Wounded -Risking ResurrectionEXTRA 13 %nuolaida
