You might have read a review of the eBook version, which slammed the book, saying "it isn't a guide". As you will see from the description below, the book doesn't claim to be a guide, though it can be used as one.
Another reviewer gave it 4 stars. It never occurred to the bad reviewer that over 200 colour pics was worth the price anyway: C'est la vie!
As the title suggests, the book is a personal view of aspects of the area, which to a large extent covers the border between Poitou-Charente and Aquitaine (France).
Basically, it follows my wanderings around the area, helped by my friend Marie-Elisabeth, who wrote the french version in the original double volume. The book is not structured like an average guide, it is just me looking at places, when I had reason to go there! There is a section that reviews other "France" books, I have read, and a guide for expats, on how to behave in France. The style is "irish" and some of the idiom shows that, along with the french non use of caps for adjectives, and oh yes, I use the old fashioned "z". Well I suppose, that's quite enough BS, so there you are. VF Mars 2013
