When extrovert Alya, a photographer, is looking for a travel companion for a road trip, it is introvert Charlie, a historian, who answers it. The two unlikely women hit it off from their first meeting and decide to embark on their very own odyssey; they take a long and winding road from London to Paris. Whilst one is running toward something, the other is running away from something. Fate seems to intervene and push the two women toward each other. And fate seems to come in the shape of two women, one of indefinable age and the other ancient, whom Alya and Charlie run into along the way to Paris. Who are these women and are they really the same ones they have encountered on previous occasions? Charlie knows she's missing something, but can't put her finger on it. Finding distraction in visiting historic places, Alya and Charlie learn much about each other and slowly, but almost inevitably, fall in love. The strange women are never far away, though, and they are watching. It is their scheming that sees Alya and Charlie fall in love. But to what end? Could there be more to it than two young women finding happiness after many personal trials and tribulations? On a journey from London to Canterbury, from Dover to Dunkirk, and from Amiens to Paris, the two women spend an intense two days together, at the end of which they will find something unexpected.
