He emphatically says his greatest regret in life was taking too long to get help for his violent behavior, as well as letting someone know family members were harming him as a child. His ignorance, secrets and silence led to his violence towards others and himself. His ignorance to his mental health ultimately landed him in a Virginia state penitentiary and psychiatric hospital for the criminally insane where he consequently received the mental health solutions that he could have received without ever going to prison because domestic violence is a preventable issue.
