Aprašymas

An immortal fox spirit attempts to help a hapless human who enters the spirit world in this cozy fantasy graphic novel by the IndieBound bestselling co-creator of Mooncakes.

Meet Rain Wong. He was born with a karmic curse, which has made him incredibly unlucky. Though he is human, he descends to the spirit world to try to expunge the curse, with the help of Xilin, a nonbinary hulijing who works at a magical café.

The café is a actually waystation to the afterlife: those who have recently passed away use memories as payment, unburdening themselves in order to reach their final resting place. Along with Xilin, the café is run by Lady Silverclaw (Xilin’s granny) and Alistair, who is talented baker.

Enter the Pavilion Master. He is the Underworld’s handsome and charming ruler who takes a keen interest in Rain for his own nefarious reasons. With a light touch, the book explores questions of fate versus free will and responsibility versus freedom, all grounded in the arcs of these relatable, imperfect characters.
