It is well known that women's lives in Kashmir is routinely disrupted by continued cycles of violence, but women have, with remarkable resilience and courage participated in the development and stabilization of the region. Indeed in the shaping of women's lives, violence is only one, if indeed a dominant factor in Kashmir. This work looks at women's development in Kashmir since 1947, focusing on education, health, property rights, and employment. At the same time, The work emphasis on the role of women's agency in the political process and socio-economic development in the region. This study also examines the role of women in the political developments in Kashmir, focusing on Women's Movements and socio-political organizations.
