Aspazia Otel Petrescu was first imprisoned when she was 25 years old, in 1948, by the communist regime that came to power in Romania with the help of the Soviet Army. She was liberated after 14 years. In this volume, she recounts a spiritual experience that helped her through a challenging prison incident. The book adds to the literature about communist prisons that has appeared in English in recent years. Aspazia Otel Petrescu wrote several volumes in her native Romanian, and this is the first translation of her work in English.
