As a little girl, Fern Jinkins grew to appreciate the closet more than the abuse going on in her life. At least in the closet, she felt safe. But repeated molestation began when she was only 6 years old, impacting her future life. To make matters worse, she grew up surrounded by drugs and dealers. Never telling anyone about the sexual abuse, Fern learned quickly to shut her mind in a closet during the many times of abuse. Eventually she made drugs and alcohol the means of escape. How can she heal from so much trauma and find a way to cope with the aftermath other than through using? Can she ever find hope to live beyond her closet?
