Aprašymas

Discovering contemporary Baltic art scene through 27 artists from the VV Foundation collection.

The first edition of the VV Foundation's contemporary art catalogue presents 27 artists from the collection with new texts commissioned to 27 philosophers, curators, and writers worldwide. As one of the Baltic region's leading contemporary art collectors, the Foundation uses the publication to present its collection and open a window onto the wider Baltic and Eastern Europe art scene.

Blurring the boundaries between a catalogue, an anthology, and an artist book, the publication explores open-form responses to artworks, ranging from essays and poems to letters and visual contributions, while proposing a more collaborative and experimental approach to catalogue publishing.

The VV Foundation Collection is constantly evolving and includes over 500 works of art spanning a variety of visual art media from painting, graphics and sculpture to video, photography, installation art and mixed-media projects. Featuring both emerging young artists and contemporary art classics, the collection traces the evolution of Baltic contemporary art from the 1980s up to the present day, encompassing a polyphonic ensemble of artistic statements, trends and styles. Over the years, the VV Foundation has been placing an increasing focus on art that is environmentally mindful in terms of narrative, aesthetics, artistic technique and sustainable practice.
