Vitiligo is often a frustrating condition for patients and dermatologists alike, but things are definitely looking up. Newer treatments are more effective and have fewer side effects. Furthermore, research in the pipeline now is very promising - both in eliminating the causes of vitiligo and forming new approaches to its treatment. As a dermatologist, I find that Vitiligo patients who stay abreast of the science behind the disease understand it better and make the best decisions regarding treatment, diet, and sun health. This books provides the medical information needed as well as practical tips for managing the condition. I do hope this book is useful for patients and families. Some of the material may appear at first to be "too hard" to read - but this is vitiligo - a lifelong condition with many causes and many approaches to treatment. If I had one wish beyond a cure for vitiligo it would be for it to become as well-known as freckles so that little children wouldn't feel the need to have printed cards explaining vitiligo to pass out to curious strangers. I hope this book answers all your questions about the disease.
