This book explores how arts practice research can shape place-based approaches to climate justice and action. Through a rich case study of ex-industrial working-class neighbourhoods in Manchester, UK, it examines how experiences of poverty, inequality and ecological loss shape locally driven responses to environmental change.

Drawing on interdisciplinary arts-based methods, including performance, storytelling, folklore and collective making, it reveals how climate knowledge is created through lived experience, care and participation. The book highlights the potential of creative practice to foster community action, while offering critical insights into the opportunities, challenges and complexities of collaborative research and social transformation.
