Aprašymas

Compelling new Australian romantic suspense from the rugged heart of Kakadu, by the bestselling author of Currawong Creek.

After a painful betrayal, Sydney wildlife biologist Jo Reid takes a job in Kakadu National Park, hoping distance will help her escape the rawness of her shattered life. She expects difficult fieldwork, punishing heat and long days among the floodplains. What she doesn't expect is to be so deeply changed by the ancient escarpments, forests and crocodile-haunted waterways of the Top End - a landscape as beautiful as it is unforgiving.

Working in remote country soon brings Jo into the orbit of Kai Walker, a solitary park ranger whose quiet strength and deep knowledge of the land unsettle her in ways she isn't ready to examine. Kai is wary of outsiders, especially city scientists with notebooks and theories, yet he recognises Jo's courage, intelligence and fierce commitment to the creatures she has come north to protect.

As their guarded partnership begins to shift into something more complicated, Jo senses that all is not well in the wild country around them. Small signs gather like storm clouds: disturbed habitats, missing wildlife, uneasy silences, and the feeling that someone is watching from the shadows. The deeper Jo is drawn into Kai's world, the harder it becomes to separate the danger closing in from the truths she has been running from.

When events take a terrifying turn, Jo must summon every scrap of courage she possesses - not only to survive, but to decide who she can trust with her future. And Kai, haunted by losses of his own, must face what it means to let someone close again.

Set beneath the vast skies and ancient escarpments of the Northern Territory, Under Kakadu Skies is a moving and suspenseful Australian romance about betrayal, courage, wild places and the fragile, hard-won beauty of learning to trust again.
