On October 12, 2012 my whole world crumbled. My husband, Drew had been in surgery having his aorta and aortic valve replaced, but now the surgeon could not get his heart to restart. He was going to die unless drastic measures were taken. Drew was transported to a Trauma 1 center and our journey began. We were going to do whatever was necessary to get him home to our daughter, and to me. Dying was not an option. This would not break us.
