ULSTER-SCOTS NAMES FOR PEOPLE is a definitive collection of over 2000 'people' names (surnames, first names, generic names for individuals and groups and descriptive names), as they are rendered in the Ulster-Scots language. These lists are arranged alphabetically under the English equivalent word for easy reference. They have been compiled from the comprehensive database of the Ulster-Scots Academy's "English to Ulster-Scots Historical Dictionary", from which numerous citations and historical examples are provided to illustrate the sources, usages and senses of the Ulster-Scots words.
