A witness has to be credible and trustworthy. It is the witness who has to be believed, not just his testimony. There are men, like David and Abraham and Job in the pages of Scripture who prove themselves credible. Their faith and peace prove to be genuine because they reveal and express the same doubts and fears and despair that we do. They converse honestly and candidly with God. That is what makes their faith and peace and joy believable. Faith and peace need to be incarnated in real people in order to inspire and sustain faith and peace in others. Twelve Scriptures... is about the encounters of real, candid men with a sometimes perplexing God. Their honesty and credibility has save and sustained my faith.
