Hansrudi Brawand worked for the Red Cross in disaster and conflict zones across the world for over thirty years. It all comes to life here; the tragedies, frustrations, and adventures of a Red Cross delegate facing enormous challenges to alleviate suffering. Poignant, humorous, and insightful, Brawand takes us on a journey through the world's hotspots and his own internal struggle with restlessness, his need to keep serving people and to try and make a difference. Unable to resist the pull of the horizon, each time it called to him, Brawand replied. He found himself in Nigeria, Turkey, Bangladesh, Slovenia, Croatia, Somalia, and Sudan, and in every location found microcosms of all that is good and bad about the world we live in.
