The 3rd Armored Division, one of only two "heavy" armored divisions in the US Army, earned the nickname "Spearhead" for its role in breaking through German defenses in Normandy and lived up to its nickname all the way through central Germany. The Reconnaissance Company, 32nd Armored Regiment, was the tip of that spear.
