Hidden forever on the far side of the Sun, the planet Crett shares Earth's orbit, its twin in distance, but not in destiny. While Earth races toward technology, Crett lingers in an age of swords, sorcery, and superstition. Steam and steel are only beginning to stir; the first railway gleams like a promise of progress. Yet in Crett's shadowed corners, magic still rules, dragons brood in their mountain lairs, orcs haunt the deep valleys, and the air itself whispers with enchantment.

Into this world steps Dennis, a self-proclaimed dark wizard whose ambition far exceeds his talent. After yet another disastrous attempt to seize the Archchancellorship of Havrapsor University, Dennis finds himself banished to the Frost Dimension, a frozen land where lost souls and forgotten demons dwell. His rival, the absent-minded Archchancellor Trinkel, may not have meant to send him there, but intent matters little when magic misfires.

Now, from his glacial prison, Dennis summons his demonic servants to scour the dimensions for a way home. Should he succeed, Crett will once again tremble beneath his chaotic schemes, and the fragile balance between magic and mayhem may never recover.
