Isn't senior year supposed to be the absolute best year of your life?

Then why is Katarina's complete garbage?

1. She's broke - What eighteen year old isn't? - but, like, broke broke. As in, she hasn't seen her mom in weeks with how much she has to work.
2. She's not going to college next year. Not a real college, anyway. No dorms, no swim team, and no crazy adventures to look forward to. Oh, and also no friends. They'll all be going away at the end of the summer.
