Edisto Beach is not the first popular beach destination on Edisto Island. Just up the beach, on the other side of Jeremy Inlet, there existed a highly sought after, wealthy beach village. Unfortunately, the hurricane of 1885 destroyed all of it in one wide sweep. There is now no evidence that it ever existed. Therefore Edisto Beach is not the first place where people came to enjoy the ocean off Edisto Island. This is what this book is all about, the beginning and ending of Edingsville. Enjoy it and spread the word of its existence.
