When Charlene Keel became a stewardess in 1965, flying was a luxury. Glamorous air hostesses served gourmet, five-course meals (including lobster, chateaubriand and champagne) in china plates and crystal goblets. Passenger seats were wider and offered more leg room (even in coach), movies were free, and nobody got X-rayed or patted down before boarding. It was before the days of bomb threats and political correctness, and pilots never had to break up fist fights between passengers. There's a lot to be said for the good old days.
