With the approach of Daisy's birthday comes a terrible revelation, which threatens to change everything. Whilst Daisy and Megan continue to work their emerging magical abilities, Scott is faced with an increasing sense of being different, a feeling that is not helped by his father's scoffing of his son's desire to be a writer. As the friends find their childhood a rapidly retreating dream, they are forced to face the adult world, only to discover it is not the place they hoped it would be. The adult world can be cold and cruel, and never more so than when the adults are hurting. Faced with a dilemma to help a fellow school friend, the friends come to realise love is a complicated thing-and families even more so. But just when things seem to be getting back on track, something evil emerges to steal away any hopes of happiness.
