The research for this project was done in a small eastern part ofthe Central San Joaquin Valley, of California.Written and IllustratedBy: Mikki TerzianNon-FictionOak tree limbs shade the tops of boulders where a lioness with cubs waits for dusk to come. She teaches them to hunt small prey under a blanket of darkness. When morning shadows are cast, their creamy brown coats make them nearly invisible to the human eye. Although the shape of our tracks are different, we travel the same paths.
