Captain Chris Baldry returns from the front to the women who love him: his wife, Kitty, and Jenny, his devoted cousin. But, beautiful though she is, Kitty is a complete stranger to him, and he recalls Jenny only as his childhood playmate.

The shell-shocked soldier remembers Margaret Allington, though, whom he loved fifteen years before. The years have changed her, but Chris sees the girl he fell in love with.
