Over the past century, great advancements have been made in securing the fundamental rights of women, gender-diverse people, and LGBTQ+ people. Laws have been passed to protect the civil rights of all people regardless of gender and sexuality and protect against discrimination in housing, the workplace, and federally funded programs like health care and education. However, despite these strides there are still numerous gender and sexuality-related political issues being hotly debated today. The Supreme Court's 2022 decision to overthrow Roe v. Wade, which protected a woman's right to have an abortion, has brought debates about reproductive rights into the spotlight. Meanwhile, attempts to ban books and other media featuring LGBTQ+ content and to prevent transgender athletes from participating in sports have also caused gender and sexuality to be major points of interest in today's political climate. These issues and more are explored in this timely volume.
