The Malone Shipping Company is the third novel from legally blind nonagenarian Al Roberts, following M.K. Heiff and its sequel The Heiff Chronicles - Book Two. The book is set in Ireland and New Orleans and environs as well as points in between circa 1830. It's about the adventures of two generations of the Malone family. It comes complete with pirates, treasure, adventure, and of course, Al's gift for storytelling. It includes moral dilemmas, hard choices and reliance on the Lord. Al's love of writing and the Lord is evident on almost every page. His writing is an outgrowth of his macular degeneration - it's something he can do, and there are many things he can no longer do. Al says, "I really like writing. You should try it. You get a group of characters established and bless their hearts - they are at your mercy. They don't talk back to you like your kids did or do. They do talk to each other, and sometimes these characters seem more real than some of your friends do. One more thing: I'm a Christian, and I plan to be in Glory before too long. Maybe I'll meet you there. Is it a date?" He's working on the sequel.
