Six years after the events of The Skeletons Strangler, Vera Valdman and Cary Solomon are having some problems in their marriage. When their marriage counselor recommends a relationship retreat hosted by a well-known adventurer, Vera reluctantly has to put aside her attempts to catch a couple of bank robbers and nab an escaped convict in order to work on her personal life, but tries to maintain a positive attitude, for Cary's sake. Retreats can be fun, right?Wrong. What starts out as a fun parlor game at the start of the evening quickly turns very dangerous after Vera not only discovers that their host may be a crazed gunman, but that one of the other retreat members may be one of the worst mass killers that Cryptesia has ever produced.
