The Lone Bird is a story about a sweet bird that is treated meanly by other birds as they are flying across the sky, leaving her alone and lonely. The Lone Bird is sad and feels rejected and very confused. She doesn't understand why the other birds are mean to her! However, on her journey through the sky she hears a voice that speaks to her and cheers her up. Her sadness turns to joy as she realizes that she is not alone and that she has done the right thing by not following the mean birds. She learns that if she stays positive and does the right thing she will be okay and she'll be able to find other positive and friendly birds like herself to play and have fun with. She feels hopeful as she flies across the sky, singing and twirling blissfully. The illustrations are beautiful and inviting. As the Lone Bird travels across the sky learning about life, the reader gets to fly alongside her and sees the luscious green rolling hills and the brilliant blue skies. The journey takes place in the beauty and comfort of the countryside where the many farm animals and other critters are grazing in the fields and enjoying each other.
