The question of what purposes companies should serve is crucial within company law doctrine and jurisprudence. Legislators in various jurisdictions are increasingly questioning shareholder primacy and considering the interests of stakeholders such as employees, creditors, and consumers, as well as environmental protection. This book explores these developments and moves beyond the dichotomy of the shareholder and stakeholder models.
