The Great Zoo Weigh-In: Poems of Tricks, Treats and Tallies

Inspired by the annual weigh-in at London Zoo, this delightful collection of poems celebrates the personalities, peculiarities, and hidden talents of the animals in our care.

Join penguins, sea lions, ants, meerkats, monkeys, snakes, parrots, elephants, piranhas, tarantulas, giraffes, and Galápagos giant tortoises as keepers tackle the curious challenge of weighing creatures great and small. Behind every number lies a living creature with its own habits, instincts, appetites, and ways of seeing the world.

Blending real animal facts with imagined antics, these poems introduce readers to the extraordinary diversity of animal life. Discover what the animals eat, how they move, where they live, and some of the remarkable adaptations that help them survive-all accompanied by inventive and often hilarious weighing methods that are part of the fun.

Written for young readers of reading age and upwards, yet equally enjoyable for the adults who share them, The Great Zoo Weigh-In combines humour, wonder, and scientific curiosity in a lively celebration of the natural world.

Perfect for reading aloud, independent reading, classrooms, and animal lovers of every age, this charming booklet reminds us that behind every measurement, every tally, and every statistic, there is a fascinating life waiting to be discovered.
