Aprašymas

When the childless King Brodik dies, his exiled wife returns to the capital for his funeral. The daughter and granddaughter of kings, she recognises the peril facing the realm as greedy and devious factions plot their way to gaining the throne. Even her husband's own councillors are eyeing the crown for themselves.
To prevent a possible civil war, she offers herself as a stabilising, temporary figurehead during the time it takes to choose a new monarch. The selection process is supervised by the powerful Mantle Magi, warriors who serve the monarch using their extraordinary elemental and supernatural powers.
Will The Mantles choose wisely? Do they have their own candidate? What of the envious neighbouring kingdom that is poised to annex a vulnerable Five Kingdoms? Can the queen manoeuvre her country successfully through this dangerous time and what will happen to her own plan for the future?
