This book is a Family History of one line of the Beyers Family. The progenitors Phillip and Mary migrated from Germany to the U.S.A. in 1851 aboard the Ship Amelia. They lived in Newark, NJ and lower Manhattan for a few years, then moved to Brooklyn. The book puts the family into their historical and social context, covering their religion, their occupations, and their lifestyles. Genealogical summaries appear at the end of each chapter. Information about four generations appear in the book. There is an extensive index that will delight genealogists. An appendix includes copies of many public records and family held certificates, deeds, etc. Photos and maps drawn by the author are dispensed liberally throughout the work. The intended audience is the author's many cousins, known to her now, and as yet unknown. Other Beyer researchers are encouraged to contact the author.
