The Apostle Paul encourages Christians to become cleansed from every defilement. Cleansing is an aspect of God's sanctification process for all believers. This means not to expose oneself to defiling images or situations, but also to allow God to expose defilements and wounds from the past.

Many Christians struggle in their walk with Christ because the devil has a right to attack and win. This is due to hidden (forgotten) past defilements and wounds lodged in thier spirit and heart that have yet to be exposed and cleansed by the Holy Spirit.
