The American Revolution on the Delaware (el. knyga) (skaityta knyga) | knygos.lt

Aprašymas

Explore a vital but often overlooked facet of America's war for independence.

Many know the story of the American Revolution in Delaware and Southeastern Pennsylvania. Fewer know of the struggles in the waters of the Delaware River and Bay. The nascent Continental Navy was born here to fight the mighty Royal Navy from Trenton to the Delaware Capes. The contest for maritime dominance influenced the epic Battle for Philadelphia. Scores of extraordinary sea battles in Delaware waters created the great naval giants of the Revolution, such as "Father of the U.S. Navy," Captain John Barry and his foe, Royal Navy Captain Andrew Snape Hamond, master of the frigate Roebuck and blockader of the Bay.

Offering insight into the strategic nuance of these naval conflicts, author Ken Wiggins vividly records this neglected dimension to the quest for American Independence.
