With Richard III, Shakespeare turned the last days of the Wars of the Roses into a riveting play that to this day, keeps us on the edge of our theatre seats. Though not always historically accurate, the play touches on the many rumors and myths surrounding the controversial ruler. Was Richard a tragic character or one of history's greatest villains? The public's fascination with the last Plantagenet king intensified in 2012, when his skeletal remains were unearthed in a parking lot on the former site of Grey Friars Church in Leicester.

Now artist Mkay BB Watson puts her own spin on Richard III, bringing Shakespeare's monarch to life in colorful illustrations and tangled drawings.
