She travels to Cape Town and finds that getting to the camps is extremely difficult. Emily finally arrives at Bloemfontein camp. There she meets and befriends Sara Harschoon and her children. Meeting increasing resistance to her efforts, Emily returns to England with a first-hand view of conditions in the camps.
