Aprašymas
Three sisters must outsmart a hungry tiger in this fresh retelling of a beloved Korean folktale. When Eomma goes to market she has only one rule for her three daughters, don't open the door until her return. There are creatures that roam the nearby mountains. But as the hours pass, the sisters grow anxious. Surely, Momma will be home soon. And when there's a knock at the door, the girls jump to let Eomma in. Except, it is not Eomma at the door. It is a very, very hungry tiger. The sisters, along with help from the Sky God, will have to work together to save themselves. Debut Nancy So Miller retells this beloved, centuries-old pourquoi tale on the origin of the sun, moon, and stars with her gorgeous diorama art, for which she carefully constructed and photographed each scene. From the fiery orange of the tiger leaping out at readers to the soothing colors of the sky, this is visually lush and inventive retelling of a traditional Korean tale that shares roots with Little Red Riding Hood. More fresh additions to the story include themes of sisterhood, pieces of Korean astronomy and mythology, and a sweet bedtime ending. Back matter includes explains the origins of the tale and more about Korean history and culture.
