Corrosion is a natural phenomenon, which can be defined as the disintegration of
a substance or its features by virtue of a result of its response during its reaction to the
environment. According to a later estimate, the United States bears the cost of more
than $300 billion per year (4.2% GNP) due to the corrosion of materials that is even higher
than the flood and fire losses (Priyantha et al, 2003). According to a survey, the U.S.
spends around 40% of its steel production on changing the deteriorated components
(Sidhu, 2003).
