Maru Han is your typical 29-year-old guy-socially anxious, broke, and desperate for a stable job. Things aren't looking up, though, considering he just failed the civil service exam for the fifth time! But fate has a funny way of giving us what we want... When a trip to the mountains turns into an encounter with some strange, human-eating creature, Maru finds himself recruited into the "Special Civil Service." His lucky break, right? Wrong! So, so, wrong! Everything is a mess-this secret task force is threatening the very safety he longed for, the monsters they fight are weirdly drawn to him, and the people on his team are total nutjobs! Will Maru be able to adjust to his new life as a public defender, or will he crash and burn alongside the earth itself?
