Most people carry around a certain amount of emotional baggage from their past. Experiences of rejection, mistreatment, abuse, broken relationships and traumatic experiences all contribute to the weight of unresolved and unhealed emotional baggage. For some people, this may mean nothing more than occasional painful memories. For other people, the baggage of the past may be seriously problematic. Many people suffer with a damaged self-image, deep feelings of inferiority, insecurity, anxiety, loneliness, addictions or anger issues. These problems can affect our relationships and rob us of joy and success in every area of our lives. If you are a Christian, the Bible says that you are a new creation. (2 Corinthians 5:17) Jesus redeemed you from your past. You are born again. But the memories and the feelings of the past may still be with you like a bad computer program, keeping you from living fully in the victory that Jesus won for you.
