TV, vodka, sex, and the Russian mafia -this is a story from 'the end of history, ' that brief period of time in the 1990s when it seemed like anything was possible for Russia and the world.

A young American documentary filmmaker travels to Siberia in the winter of 1994. He finds work in Tomsk at a privately owned television station where the staff is young, hopeful, and ready to contribute to the democratization of their country following the collapse of the USSR.

He befriends his colleagues and begins a romance with a woman on staff. While he seeks to hide behind his camera and his position as a foreigner, his relationship with the TV station and with his colleague becomes an all-encompassing, barreling heartbreak.

Equally hilarious, sad, and romantic, Soroka is above all an attempt at capturing a time, place and way of life.
