The residents of the small town of Carlton are still recovering from the grisly murders, seven years prior. While dealing with their own personal issues, both Police Chief Clovis McPhee and Officer Libby Terwilliger must also contend with feuding neighbors. The men, Garth Blackett who is well known for his temper and the ninety-three-year-old cantankerous Eli Woodman are having a quarrel over petty garbage. Plus, a dispute is heating up between Mayor Jack Ledger and Ms. Musgrave over Christmas lights in July. On top of that, a nosy reporter at the small struggling newspaper is investigating multiple acts of vandalism that Chief Clovis would rather simply forget, considering everything else he is dealing with. And with the Chief occupied with his own concerns, who will intervene as tempers flare between the feuding neighbors, something that threatens to end with someone's death.
