A group of ordinary functionaries-an engineer, a librarian, a medic, an archaeologist, and a housing worker-begin to perceive small irregularities in the narrative of perfection. Their inquiries do not begin as rebellion but as observation. What they gradually uncover is not overt tyranny, but a long-term design: Scientica is reducing the human population, generation by generation, toward obsolescence.
