Aprašymas

This sumptuous book gathers together 26 of the best gardens in Scandinavia both grand and intimate, traditional and modern. It will feature gardens made by acclaimed designers and gardens that are well-known and open to the public. Most of all they are owned and tended by passionate gardeners, from the smallest private gardens to grand palace gardens.

Drawing on gardens from Sweden, Denmark and Norway, they have all appeared in the leading Swedish garden magazine: Trädgårdsliv (‘Garden life’ in Swedish). The gardens chosen are a mix of historic and contemporary and a mixture of styles, giving a great overview of different styles and traditions. Interspersed between the chapters on individual gardens are features on specific themes in Scandinavian garden design (for example Carl Linnaeus and the Scandinavian allotment movement).

The author, Klas Kihlberg, founded Trädgårdsliv in 2007 and since then it has featured hundreds of gardens from all over the world, but mostly Scandinavia.

The different traditions, landscape and climate of Scandinavia make its gardens distinctive but a source of inspiration for gardeners around the world.
