Elsa Longfellow, a naïve girl from Brooklyn, finds herself captured by Nazi forces when she rashly decides to travel in search of the painters Matisse and Picasso. Rescued by a handsome British spy, Tarquin Gilbert, Elsa finds herself living in London and caught up in a war of which she never wanted to be part. As the war worsens, the danger increases, and their romance blossoms. But love during wartime is not the easiest, and Elsa and Tarquin find themselves torn apart.
