Islam is often viewed as a religion which teaches Salvation by work (`amilooa). However, a closer examination of the Qur'anic teaching on soteriology seems to indicate that faith in Allah and His mercy are also crucial for one's salvation. If that is the case, then how similar or different is Qur'anic teaching from the Biblical teaching of salvation by grace through faith? The book Salvation: In the light of the Cross and the Crescent examines the concept of salvation as presented in both the Qur'an and the Bible, and is significant because it will help in understanding the concept of salvation taught in both Islam and Christianity theologically and in turn, helps to reveal the facts and correct the misunderstandings concerning soteriology of both Scriptures, bringing out the differences and similarities between the two books.
