Welcome to the next generation of poets and writers!

The poems featured in this book are the winners, finalists and highly commended of the national Black History Month poetry competition. Writers range from age 6 to over 60 years old.

All the poems are reflecting the theme, Saluting Our Sisters, and celebrate black women throughout history. Some known, some unknown but all inspirational and worthy of recognition.

We hope the words of these poems encourage you, wrap around you like a comfort blanket and become part of your well-being toolkit.
