In Revolutionary Doctrine of the True Faith, Alan Bleakley, Tolu Oloruntoba, and Shane Neilson conjure a poetic counter to reductionist biomedicine. Bleakley, a world-renowned health humanist, engages with the English countryside and John Keats to derive a supplemental balm; Oloruntoba, a Nigerian-trained physician and current health project leader, thinks through medical practice, and moral injury as informed by non-Western mythology and his former work; and Neilson, a practising Canadian physician, reaches into Christian and Greek myth to interrogate the origins of medicine and the betrayal of their promise when brought to bear on his young son. These poems are the collective testament of incendiary thinkers, three poets who offer "a primal language beyond crumpled speech."
