Racism based on human colour is biologically skin-deep, but deeply embedded in the very fabric of society. Racism, a culturally transmitted learned behaviour, is present in the Church, a part of society. The same Church that emphasises that all human beings are created in God's own image discriminates against people because of their God-given skin colour. Mukti Barton, a lecturer in Black and Asian Theology, presents the authentic prophectic voice of Black and Asian Christians who suffer various forms of rejection in the Church. Personal stories are interwoven with biblical study and theological reflection, and the psychology of racism in all its forms is explored. Christians are urged not to perpetuate facism by their silence, but to join in their struggle in love, faith and hope.
