The concept of God has evolved over the centuries, just as humans have. As our understanding of the Universe has expanded, so too should our vision of the divine. In Problem Gods: In Search of a Meaningful Deity Dr. Garber puts forth an unique, comprehensive argument as to how our vision and understanding of the divine should evolve in conjunction with our evolving understanding of the Universe.

Although some view God as supernatural and immutable, others believe that God is dead, and over time the ancient gods of the past have evolved from anthropomorphic concepts to today's monotheistic God that is both anthropomorphic and metaphysical, having been sculpted to meet our emotional and spiritual needs.

Today, however, science, and especially astronomy, relativity, and quantum theory allow us to redefine God in a more rational, meaningful and practical way. This Neo-Natural God, as Dr. Garber labels this God, is defined by the world around and within us. James J. Garber holds a B.A. in philosophy, master degrees in counseling, astronomy and theology as well as a Ph.D. in humanities and an M.D. These studies along with a life-long interest in philosophy and religion have culminated in Problem Gods: In Search of a Meaningful Deity.
